Differential Agar Plates

Remember the colourful differential agar I mentioned in an earlier post? Wondered how they look like? Here are some pictures! :)

my work bench

Circle of colours

They have got really cute names too - Rose Bengal, Bromo Purple, Brilliant Green, Nile Blue, Basic Fuscin, Acid Fuscin, Crystal violet, and of course the normal one, YEPD Base. Of these, Bromo purple is the most fascinating as growth affects its colour.

My ultimate fav

Makes spending time in the lab more bearable don't you think? ;)

They're so pretty, especially those that looked like patterns :) How long can they last?

Hey adrienne! You've been MIA for some time! Haha.

They are aren't they? :) Uh, I actually have no idea as I had to throw them out once the experiment was done. They took 48hours to grow though, and could probably last for a bit if put in the freezer.
